Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week: Paul Rogers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After winning three individual events during last Saturday’s dual meet against UC Santa Barbara, senior men’s swimmer Paul Rogers has been named both the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week and the MPSF Male Athlete of the Week.
Rogers’ three wins were the most by any Mustang during the meet against the Gauchos at Anderson Aquatic Center.
His career day started when he won the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:37.24. That time is currently the 15th fastest in the country this season. He later won the 100 free with a time of 44.55, a career-best time in the event for him at Cal Poly and the 29th fastest time in the country this season. He then followed that up with a victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:37.06.

Senior Paul Rogers was a triple-event winner against UCSB, winning the 200 free, 100 free (with a career-best 44.55), and 500 free. He is currently ranked 13th in the nation in the 200 free and 29th in the 100 free.
In the team competition, UCSB won both the men’s and women’s dual by identical scores of 154-140.
Up next for Cal Poly, the diving team will be in action Nov. 8-10 at the USC Diving Invitational while the swimmers will next compete Nov. 22-24 at the Pepperdine Winter Invitational.
