SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Senior wide receiver J.J. Koski, who established a new career high with three touchdown catches last week against Eastern Washington, has been selected as the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Koski caught four passes in Saturday’s 42-41 loss to the 2018 national runner-up Eagles. His scoring tosses from Jalen Hamler spanned 32, 11 and 22 yards.
Koski increased his career totals to 119 receptions for 2,300 yards and 18 touchdowns. He is No. 6 in career receptions, tied for No. 5 in career receiving yards and tied for No. 5 in career receiving touchdowns in the Cal Poly record book.
This season he has 40 receptions for 857 yards and eight touchdowns. His 40 catches are the most for a single season by a Mustang since 2010 when Dominique Johnson had 47 receptions.
A graduate of San Ramon Valley High School, Koski has led the Mustangs in receiving each of the past three seasons. He had 33 catches as a junior and 28 as a sophomore.
