Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week: Maia Dvoracek

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After recording her 14th straight match with double figure kills to help the Cal Poly volleyball team pick up a big win over rival UCSB on Saturday, junior outside hitter Maia Dvoracek has been named the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week for the third time this fall.
In the sweep over the Gauchos, Dvoracek finished with a match-high 13 kills while hitting .333 as the Mustangs won their 30th straight home match to move into sole possession of second place in the Big West.
In addition to her 13 kills, she also added eight digs and a match-high four service aces to bring her total for the season up to 54, which leads the conference and is tied for fifth most in the nation.
Through 12 conference matches, Dvoracek leads the Big West in kills per set at 5.12 and has finished with double-digit kills in all of them.
Cal Poly will make its final road trip of the regular season this weekend, traveling to face CSUN on Friday at 7 p.m. The match will air live on ESPN3. The Mustangs will then take on Long Beach State on Saturday, also at 7 p.m.
