Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week: Sierra Campisano
Sierra Campisano, Junior, Forward, 6-3, San Diego, Calif./Oregon
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After establishing career highs for both scoring and rebounding while leading the Mustang women’s basketball team to a win to close out non-conference play, junior forward Sierra Campisano was selected as the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday, in addition to being named College Sports Madness’ Big West Player of the Week.
During Cal Poly’s 100-35 victory over Holy Names University at Mott Athletics Center on Thursday night, Campisano scored 33 points to go with 16 rebounds.
She shot 12-for-25 overall from the floor while surpassing her trio of 21-point outings against Pepperdine, Arizona State and Saint Mary’s earlier this season. The evening also saw her eclipse her previous single-game rebounding best of 14 boards.
The Mustangs now turn their attention to Big West play. Cal Poly opens its conference schedule on the road, first taking on Long Beach State at Walter Pyramid at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, before visiting UC Santa Barbara in The Thunderdome on Saturday, Jan. 11, tipping off at 2 p.m.
