This Week in Mustang Athletics
- Unbeaten in four of their last five, Cal Poly men's soccer kicks off a three-match home stay at Spanos Stadium with Utah Tech at 7 p.m. on Thursday during Club Soccer Night.
- Fresh off their first 2-0 start to the season since 2012, Cal Poly football travels to take on FBS and Mountain West opponent San Jose State, which will be broadcasted on NBC Sports Bay Area at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
- Volleyball, receiving votes for a third straight week to open 2026, heads to the former home of Mustang great Tommi Stockham as Cal Poly faces host No. 21 Indiana on Thursday at 4 p.m. PT before the neutral-site affair versus Eastern Illinois, with both matches to be broadcasted on Big Ten+.
- Women's soccer, momentum in tow after securing a result against Cal for the first time since 2009, takes to the road as well on Thursday at 6 p.m. with a lone battle in Stockton against Pacific.
- Both men's and women's golf are finally back to action heading into next week, as the men head to Muskoka Lakes, Ontario for The Canadian Collegiate from September 13-15, while the women are at the Leadership and Golf Invitational in Washington from September 14-15.

WEEKLY SNEAK PEEK
- Following Monday’s 1-0 triumph at LMU secured through a 34th-minute headed goal from junior forward Finn Linas, Cal Poly returns home for its next three matches, first hosting Utah Tech on Thursday, Sept. 10 at 7 p.m. on ESPN+.
- Linas became Cal Poly’s eighth different goal scorer in six games this season with his Monday strike.
- Eight different Mustangs have also recorded at least one assist this year.
- Following football's dramatic 24-17 victory over Central Washington, Cal Poly’s 2-0 start to the season is its first since the 2012 Mustangs finished 9-3, won a share of the Big Sky Conference title and qualified for the FCS playoffs.
- Cal Poly plays its first road matchup of 2026 against its lone FBS opponent when visiting San Jose State on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 6 p.m.
- Football pregame tailgate makes its way to Northern California this weekend, as food, drink tickets, and music will be included in a limited ticket sale and is open from 3-6 p.m.!

- Last weekend, the Mustangs split results against San Diego State (W, 3-1) and host Aggies (L, 2-3) at the UC Davis Invitational. For a third consecutive weekend to open the season, Cal Poly will both be on the road again and receiving votes in the weekly AVCA rankings.
- Mustang volleyball travels to Bloomington, Indiana for a pair of non-conference tourney games against the host Hoosiers on Thursday at 4 p.m. PT and neutral-site Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m. PT the next day. Both matches will be available on Big Ten+ and links can be found HERE.
- Cal Poly outhit both of its opponents last weekend over nine gruelingly close sets, including a third double-digit kill performance from Emma Fredrick and a second double-double of the season for Kendall Beshear.
- The Mustangs continue a four-match road swing when they travel to Pacific at 6 p.m. Thursday. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+ and live stats are available HERE.
- Cal Poly (2-2-2) is coming off a scoreless draw at Cal last Thursday that saw junior goalkeeper Shannon Porubski earn three saves, including on a penalty kick by the Golden Bears in the 17th minute, to record her 11th career clean sheet and second of the season.
- Last year in San Luis Obispo, the Mustangs and Tigers played to a 2-2 draw. Cal Poly is 19-3-2 all-time against Pacific.
- 28 players have seen the field for the Mustangs this season with six starting in every single match — senior Siena Urzua, juniors Miah Thomas, Mya Clarke and Shannon Porubski, sophomore Sam Walker and freshman Kate Nunes.
- Urzua, a team captain on the Mustang backline, leads the team in minutes played (527 minutes), playing every minute in four matches.
- Following Thursday’s contest, Cal Poly gets a brief break action before traveling to Seattle on Saturday, Sept. 19, to face the Redhawks in its nonconference finale.
