SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Two incoming Cal Poly women’s flag football student-athletes are already making headlines nationally after being named to the USA National Team. Ashlea Klam and Maci Joncich, both of whom will join the Mustangs in the fall of 2026, have been named to the USA Women's Flag Football National Team roster.
Klam is a transfer from Keiser University in Florida, where she played on the flag football team the past two years. A wide receiver and safety, she has been named All-Conference each of her two seasons there. She is no stranger to the USA National Team as this is her fourth straight year she has been named to the Team USA roster.
Joncich, a transfer quarterback and receiver from the University of Florida, has been one of the top players in the country the last several years. As a freshman, she led the Gators to the NIRSA National Championship, being named Tournament MVP. She is also no stranger to Team USA. At 17 years old in 2024, she was named to the Senior USA National Team becoming the youngest player in team history.
Klam and Joncich will represent Team USA this August at the IFAF World Championships in Dusseldorf, Germany.
These two athletes represent just a couple of the high level players that Cal Poly flag football head coach Rod Sherman and assistant coach Kristen Sherman have been adding to their inaugural 2026-27 roster.
