SAN LUIS OBISPO – Senior Associate Athletics Director Ashley Offermann, who has led the Cal Poly Athletics Department's fundraising, capital projects, special events and development strategy to record-setting growth over the past 13 years, will depart the university for another opportunity as of Aug. 31.
"Ashley has been a tremendous leader and colleague for Cal Poly Athletics," said Director of Athletics Don Oberhelman. "Through his work, more than $120 million has been raised to support our student-athletes, their scholarships, the services they receive, and the facilities in which they train and compete. We thank him for his dedication, and we know he'll always be a Mustang at heart."
Offermann will become the Chief Development Officer for Youth on Course, a golf non-profit focused on improving access to the game for all young people, regardless of circumstance.
During Offermann's tenure, Cal Poly Athletics fundraising averaged $9.23 million annually, marking a 396 percent increase from the initial 18 years as a Division I athletics department. Since 2013, nearly $120 million has been raised, leading to greater investment in facilities, operations and scholarships.
"My 13 years at Cal Poly have been incredibly rewarding. I'm deeply grateful to Don for the opportunity to partner in elevating Mustang Athletics and proud of the transformative growth we've achieved together under his leadership," Offermann said. "Central to this success has been the unwavering support of our community, especially the Athletics Director Council. Chaired by the dedicated John Ronca, this group of loyal volunteers is the backbone of our progress – their investment, time and vision have been indispensable. I leave with immense confidence in Cal Poly's bright future."
Offermann's role was multifaceted, encompassing the strategic planning and execution of new athletics facilities, the execution of program-specific special events and sport administration for track and field, cross country, and wrestling. He also provided national leadership as a member of the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship Committee.
