THIS WEEK IN MUSTANG ATHLETICS
- Seeded No. 2 for the 2025 Big West Championship, Cal Poly volleyball faces either third-seeded Long Beach State or No. 6 UC Irvine in Friday’s 6 p.m. semifinal. The winner advances to the 2025 championship matchup, scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. at Long Beach State’s Financial Credit Union Pyramid.
- After falling at Northern Arizona Monday evening, 93-87, Cal Poly men’s basketball completes action at NAU’s MTE against defending Ohio Valley Conference regular season champion Southeast Missouri on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. PT.
- Cal Poly women’s basketball topped Division III Chapman Monday, 59-31. The Mustangs enjoy a 10-day break before their Thursday, Dec. 4 Big West opener.

Mustang Volleyball Prepares to Fight for Big West Championship in Long Beach
- Cal Poly delivered its most dominant performance of 2025 Friday night, sweeping Cal State Fullerton by a 32-point margin to clinch the No. 2 seed for the Big West Championship, The Mustangs fought hard to end the regular season on a high note, but fell to UC Irvine in straight sets on Saturday afternoon.
- The Mustangs reached 23 wins during the regular season for their highest tally under head coach Caroline Walters – a distinction that includes a fourth consecutive season of 14 conference wins.
- Over the weekend, Emme Bullis notched her third career season of 1,000-plus assists and became just the second Big West player this year to reach the mark. She also tallied a double-double in Saturday’s regular season finale.
- After earning the second seed and a first round bye, the Mustangs await their opponent in this weekend’s The Hawaiian Islands presents the 2025 Outrigger Big West Women's Volleyball Championship. Cal Poly will face either No. 3 Long Beach State or No. 6 UC Irvine, which will be decided after their first-round match on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
Men’s Basketball Back Home to Host Redlands Saturday Afternoon
- Cal Poly closes a six-game road trip versus Southeast Missouri on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. PT. The Mustangs then return home to Mott Athletics Center to host Division III Redlands on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m.
- Sophomore guard Cayden Ward was named Big West Player of the Week for Nov. 24 after scoring a career high 28 points on 9-for-14 shooting and grabbing eight rebounds in Cal Poly’s 92-85 win at Utah (Nov. 20).
- With a career high 26 points at Utah, sophomore guard Hamad Mousa has emerged as the Big West’s second leading scorer at 19.0 points per game.
Women’s Basketball Tops Chapman; Readies for Big West Opener
- Sophomore guard Vanessa McManus finished with a game high 14 points as Cal Poly improved to 2-1 inside Mott Athletics Center Monday evening with a 59-31 victory against Division III Chapman.
- McManus was named Big West Player of the Week for Nov. 24 after averaging 28.0 points per two games last week – including a career best 34 points against Sothern Utah (Nov. 21).
- After a 10-day break, Cal Poly opens Big West action when hosting Cal State Fullerton Thursday, Dec. 4
