Mustangs Fall to Cal State Bakersfield in Home Finale

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — For the third straight game senior guard Kobe Sanders went for over 20 points, but the Cal Poly men's basketball team fell to Cal State Bakersfield Thursday, 68-56 in the final home game of the season.
Sanders led all players with 24 points in addition to six rebounds. He continued his streak of scoring double figures in every game he's played this season.
It was a strong opening half for the Mustangs, who shot 52 percent in the first half. An 11-2 run got Cal Poly the lead 35-30 with 1:30 left before halftime. The Mustangs led by two at the break, 37-35.
The Roadrunners came out in the second half with a 13-2 run at the 17-minute mark over the next six minutes to take a 50-41 lead. Another 8-0 run seven minutes left pushed Cal State Bakersfield lead up to 15.
The Roadrunners were led by guard Kaleb Higgins' 21 points while fellow guard Dalph Panopio added 10.
Cal Poly will finish out its two remaining regular season games on the road next week when traveling to UC Irvine Thursday before finishing at UC San Diego on Saturday.
