SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- This week the Cal Poly wrestling team has three matmen ranked nationally while a fourth is an honorable mention.
Bernie Truax (11-1) climbed to No. 2 in The Open Mat rankings at 197 pounds while Dom Demas (8-6) sports a No. 16 ranking at 149 pounds by College Wrestling Report. Both wrestlers missed a few dual meets due to injury but returned to the lineup in February.
With three wins against top-33 wrestlers in his last four matches, Ethan Rotondo (9-11) has earned a No. 33 ranking at 133 pounds from InterMat.
And 285-pounder Trevor Tinker (13-7), who has won the final match of a dual meet four times to clinch victory for the Mustangs this season, is listed as an honorable mention by Flo Wrestling.
Cal Poly as a team is ranked No. 25 in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Division I Poll. The Mustangs clinched the Pac-12 dual meet title with wins over Stanford and Oregon State last weekend, improving to 8-6 overall and 5-0 in conference duals.
