SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Shortstop Brooks Lee, who produced multiple-hit games in all four Mustang baseball contests last week, has been selected as the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Lee went 9-for-15 at the plate in the four games, including a 6-for-11 series against Missouri State, which Cal Poly won, two games to one.
After a three-hit game against Fresno State last Tuesday, Lee banged out a pair of hits in each of the three games versus Missouri State on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington.
The redshirt sophomore's at-bats included a three-run home run in the fifth inning of the series finale, giving the Mustangs a 10-4 lead en route to a series-clinching 14-12 victory.
Lee also had an RBI single in the series opener, a 5-1 Mustang win, and drove in a total of five runs for the series. He also walked five times, two of them intentionally.
A five-time All-American last spring and five-time preseason All-American, Lee currently is hitting .462 with three doubles, one home run and nine RBIs. The Golden Spikes Award candidate has compiled a .588 on-base percentage and .692 slugging percentage.
Cal Poly (4-3) hosts Portland for a single game Wednesday at 6 p.m. before going back out on the road for a three-game weekend series at UNLV.
