Cal Poly Falls to North Carolina State, Lehigh in Collegiate Duals

NEW ORLEANS, La. -- Cal Poly dropped dual wrestling meets to No. 21 Lehigh and No. 12 North Carolina State in the Collegiate Wrestling Duals on Monday at the New Orleans Convention Center.
The 28th-ranked Mustangs fell 26-6 to Lehigh and 33-3 to North Carolina State, dropping to 2-3 on the year. Cal Poly faces unranked Lock Haven in the final round of the two-day 12-team event Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pacific to decide fifth and sixth place in the Red Pool.
Against Lehigh, Mustang 125-pounder Antonio Lorenzo and 197-pounder Bernie Truax earned wins via decision.
Lorenzo, ranked 14th, edged Lehigh's Carter Bailey 3-2 while Truax won his match by the same score against Michael Beard in a matchup of top-10 wrestlers at 197. Truax is ranked 2/3 while Beard entered with a No. 5 ranking.
In the North Carolina State dual, the Wolf Pack won the first five bouts before Legend Lamer earned a 12-10 overtime victory over No. 29 Donald Cates.
In his second match of the day against a top-10 wrestler, Truax was pinned by No. 9 Isaac Trumble in 4 minutes, 30 seconds, falling to 6-1 for the year.
