Lee Sports 17-Game Hitting Streak for Willmar Stingers

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly shortstop Brooks Lee has collected at least one hit in each of the 17 Northwoods League games he has played in this summer.
Hitting .343 for the season and playing second base, Lee has sparked the Willmar Stingers to a 14-8 record. The Northwoods League season began July 1 and runs through Sept. 2.
One of eight Cal Poly baseball players in the summer collegiate leagues this year, Lee is 23-for-67 at the plate with two doubles and a home run, a two-run shot in last Friday's 18-7 win over Waterloo. He has five multiple-hit games, including going 3-for-5 on July 18 against Mankato.
Also for Willmar, Mustang Kyle Scott is 1-1 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA. Also a freshman, Scott has struck out 16 batters over 14 innings with just one walk allowed. He has made seven appearances on the mound for the Stingers.
For the St. Cloud Rox (9-9), Nick Marinconz sports a .268 average, going 11-for-41 at the plate with two doubles, one home run and four RBIs. He hit a solo home run versus Mankato on July 8.
Taison Corio is hitting .250 for the Rochester Honkers (4-13) with a pair of doubles, one home run and seven RBIs with four steals in four attempts. He has three multiple-hit games and homered against Willmar on July 5.
Kyle Ashworth has rebounded from a 1-for-14 start and is hitting .132 with two RBIs in 17 games for the Kalamazoo Mac Daddies (6-14-1).
In the San Diego Collegiate League, first baseman Tate Samuelson is hitting .306 for the Long Boarders (8-11) and was named to the league's all-star game for Team Sea at Petco Park. He went 1-for-4 with a single in the game.
Samuelson is 19-for-62 at the plate with three doubles, a league-leading four home runs and 11 RBIs with six multiple-hit games. The league concludes play tonight.
Finally, two Mustangs are playing for the Santa Barbara Foresters, who are 20-3 for the season and conclude play Friday.
Derek True has no decisions and a 6.48 ERA in seven appearances on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 8 1/3 innings.
Incoming freshman Bryce Warrecker allowed his first earned run but earned the win against the Santa Maria Pea Soup on July 19. Warrecker is 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA, striking out 30 batters over 18 innings. His other win was on July 9 against the Texas Express as he tossed six scoreless innings in relief with 12 strikeouts, no walks and one hit allowed.
At the plate, Warrecker is hitting .312 with five hits in 16 at-bats, including one triple, and he has knocked in four runs.
