SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Mustang Insider Show, bringing Cal Poly fans interviews, news and entertainment from the Mustang sports world, will broadcast every Tuesday and Thursday on ESPN Radio 1280 AM / 101.7 FM, starting on April 7 at 5 p.m.
Chris Sylvester, the voice of the Mustangs, will host the twice-weekly, hour-long shows running from 5 to 6 p.m. (recorded from ESPN 1280 Studios in San Luis Obispo).
Fans will also be able to re-listen to the shows after they first air, at GoPoly.com at THIS LINK.
“I'm really excited to bring this show to Cal Poly and Big West fans during a time where we are missing sports so, so much,” Sylvester said. “I'm looking forward to catching up with coaches and athletes so they can give some perspective on how their duties and routines have been affected.”
“It's certainly not the games that we had hoped we'd be following right now, but I'm happy we can sit and talk sports for a couple hours every week,” Sylvester added.
Tuesday's opening show, presented by CalPortland, will start with an interview with Cal Poly Director of Athletics Don Oberhelman, discussing preparation for upcoming fall sports in light of the NCAA's cancellation of the spring season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, among other topics such as recent head coaching additions to the department, and looking ahead to the Mustang Madness fundraising event pushed back to the fall.
Also on Tuesday, Sylvester will be joined by Mustang women's basketball head coach Faith Mimnaugh, who comes onto the program after Cal Poly saw its 2-0 run halted at the Big West Tournament in March. The Mustangs, led by first-team all-conference forward Sierra Campisano to wins in four of their last five games, had advanced to the semifinals at Honda Center prior to the cancellation of the remainder of the tournament.

In closing, updates on how to support Mustang sponsors during this time will also be shared with listeners.
Then on Thursday's show, Cal Poly men's basketball head coach John Smith will join the program to discuss the Mustangs' offseason and incoming recruiting class, among other topics, before women's basketball point guard Abbey Ellis, a Big West All-Freshman Team honoree in 2020, will also come on to look back on the season.
Upcoming shows will also include segments with several additional Mustang head coaches, as well as more interviews with student-athletes and alumni, sponsor spotlights, trivia, and more.
