
No. 8 Mustangs Down Tulane to Finish Undefeated at TCU Tournament

FORT WORTH, Texas— The Cal Poly beach volleyball team continued its strong start to the season Sunday, beating No. 18 Tulane 4-1 at the Fight in the Fort tournament hosted by Texas Christian University.
The No. 8 Mustangs got wins at the Nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 spots to improve its record to 7-2 on the season.
The No. 2 Cal Poly duo and reigning Big West and AVCA Pair of the Week of sophomore Emily Sonny and junior Samantha Manley won their match 19-21, 21-12, 15-9 to win their ninth match in a row to stay undefeated on the season. Also staying undefeated for the season with their win was the No. 5 pairing of freshman Macy Gordon and sophomore Heather Pembroke. The duo won 21-9, 22-20 to improve to 8-0 this season.
Playing at the No. 3 position, junior Adlee Van Winden and senior Taylor Nelson won their third match in a row, winning 21-11, 21-17.
Seniors Raeann Greisen and Hannah Hubbard also picked up a win at the No. 4 spot. The two won their match 21-17, 21-19.
Cal Poly travels to Santa Cruz next Saturday, March 10, where they will play a trio of matches. They will take on Pacific, San Francisco and Portland starting at 8 a.m.
