Mustangs Compete at Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. – Cal Poly cross country teams competed at the Stanford Invitational on Saturday running split squads. The men's team, led by David Cardona, finished 18th while the women's team, led by Alex Ciaraglia, finished 15th. Each Cal Poly team competed with just five runners.
Cardona, a senior, covered the 8k course in a time of 24:55 and finished in 19th place. Freshman Tyler Huntley was the second Mustang to cross the line in 75th and a time of 26:04 while fellow freshman Eric Morford finished 114th with a time of 26:34.
Freshman Jeff Miles was the fourth Mustangs across the line with a time of 26:40 with senior Aric Champagne finishing with a time of 26:49. Miles finished in 122 with Champagne was 128th.
Master's College, John Gilbertson, was the individual champion with a time of 24:07 with Stanford winning the team title.
On the women's side Ciaraglia finished 43rd and finished the 6k course in a time of 22:04. Freshman Sara Van Dyke finished 53rd with a time of 22:13 while sophomore Ashley Bergstrom was the third Mustang to cross in 83rd and a time of 22:33.
Junior Kasey Urman was 84th with a time of 22:34 with sophomore Hanna Edwards rounding out the scoring runners in 172nd and a time of 23:56.
Kathy Kroeger led the Stanford team to the title when she won the individual crown with a time of 20:13.
