Billy Jackson played three varsity seasons (1970-73) after a year on the freshman squad at Cal Poly and is one of only three Mustangs to produce a pair of 500-plus point seasons.
He led Cal Poly to a CCAA championship in 1972, twice led the conference in scoring and twice earned first-team All-CCAA honors along with one NCAA?Division II?All-America honor. Jackson finished his Mustang career No. 3 in scoring average (18.5), No. 4 in rebounding (9.0), No. 6 in points scored (1,370) and No. 6 in total rebounds (663).
During the 1971-72 season he set records for field goals attempted (516) and made (242) and No. 3 in points (565).
Jackson went on to win a National AAU Championship in 1975 and played professionally in Mexico for seven years, five in Mexicali, one in Leon and one in Durango. He then worked in construction for five years and has been a long-haul trucker for 21 years, the last eight for Navajo Trucking Company based in?Denver.
Jackson played in the Senior Olympics in the 50-55 age bracket and served as a church deacon, chairman of the deacon board and Sunday school teacher.
A graduate of Monrovia High School, Jackson has been married to his wife Rita for 38 years (through 2020) and they raised two sons, Levin and Dino.
