Dan Lambert had a remarkable career on the Cal Poly tennis courts. He won NCAA Division II All-American honors in each of his four seasons. He also was a doubles All-American in 1971.
Dan was a finalist in NCAA singles from 1972-74, and a quarterfinalist in his freshman season of 1971. In 1974, he reached the final round of 32 in Division I. His senior season record of 18-1 gave him a career record of 108-16 and a winning percentage of .871. Cal Poly teams finished 6th, 4th, 2nd and 3rd in the nation during his career.
In 1977 he played on the American Express Challenger's Tour. From 1979 to 1985 Dan owned a retail tennis shop in San Luis Obispo. From 1982 to 1990 he managed and operated the San Luis Bay Tennis Club in Avila Beach.
From 1990 to 2006, he did mapping and graphic design work for the County of San Luis Obispo. Since 2006, Dan has worked in Geographic Information Systems development and deployment for the city of Paso Robles.
Dan continues to play tennis competitively. He and wife Carol reside in San Luis Obispo and have a son.
