Cal Poly Welcomes Recruits to Cross Country, Track and Field Programs

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly is set to welcome its 2015-16 cross country and track and field recruiting classes for the upcoming year. Mustang head coach Mark Conover and director of athletics Don Oberhelman announced the leading newcomers Thursday.

The Mustangs are coming off a year in which all four of their squads finished at least in the top three of the Big West at the fall and spring championships. Altogether, Cal Poly has had a combined 68 Division I All-Americans all-time between the four sports, and has won 17 team and 127 individual conference titles since 1997.

The incoming group is highlighted below with several of the top performances by each respective to their premier event(s):

MEN

Evan Askar, Ventura (Calif.) HS
Cross Country — 5K: 15:20.00 (ninth at the 2014 CIF State Championships for Division 2)
