Chip Blaney joined the Cal Poly volleyball program as a volunteer assistant coach in January of 2019.

Blaney comes to the Mustangs with a plethora of coaching experience. He was head coach of the girl's varsity volleyball team at St. Joseph High School in Santa Maria for two years, head coach of the girl's varsity volleyball team at Arroyo Grande High School for three years, spent two years as the head coach of the Cal Poly Women's Club Team, and has spent five years as a coach at 805 Elite Volleyball Club.

As head coach of the Cal Poly Women's Club Volleyball Team, Blaney guided them to a NCVF 1AA National Championship in 2017 and was named NCCVL Conference Coach of the Year.

A San Luis Obispo native, Blaney played three years of varsity boy's volleyball at San Luis Obispo High School and played on the men's club volleyball team at Liberty University where he received a degree in Sports Management.
