STANFORD – The Cal Poly volleyball team put up a fight against No. 20 Purdue at the Stanford Invitational Saturday afternoon but fell short in a four-set match, losing 3-1.
The Mustangs lost their first two sets, 27-25, 25-21, but made a comeback in the third, winning 25-14 and then falling in their fourth set 25-21.
Sophomore Adlee Van Winden led the team in kills, as she put up 19 overall and nine in set one, which contributed to more than half of the team's kills for that set.
Junior Taylor Nelson put up 43 of the team's 50 assists while also contributing four digs and one kill.
Sophomore Katherine Brouker led the team in digs with 18 of the team's 51.
The Mustangs had a .236 attack percentage while Purdue had .263
The Mustangs are now 4-3 on the season and will be back on the court on Sunday to take on No. 9 Stanford at 1 p.m.
