The Mustangs, who hit a match-best .345 with just three errors in set No. 1, opened Saturday's match by producing aces on three of the first seven points. Cal State Fullerton, which hit .469 in the set, quickly recovered and led for a majority of the game. Facing a 24-20 deficit, however, Cal Poly received kills from Schleis and sophomore middle blocker Taylor Gruenewald and two aces by sophomore Anna Gorman to even the set. The match was tied three more times before a hitting and ball handling error by Cal State Fullerton handed Cal Poly the win.

Set No. 2 saw 14 tied scorelines and eight lead changes. Trailing late once more at 23-19, Cal Poly used two kills by Greisen, one from Schleis and an ace by freshman Bailey Roach to take a 24-23 lead. Cal State Fullerton, however, forced two additional tied scorelines before edging out the 28-26 win.

The Mustangs returned in set No. 3 to lead from the onset and by as much as 18-13 midway through the game. Up 23-18, Cal Poly received successive Greisen kills to close the set victory. Cal Poly held Cal State Fullerton to a -.129 hitting mark in set No. 3.

Neither side led the fourth set by more than two points. Trailing 23-22, Cal Poly received Greisen's final kill of the night to tie the set before two more by Schleis eventually placed the Mustangs up 25-24. A Titan hitting miscue then ended matters.
