MORAGA, Calif. – The Cal Poly volleyball team won for the third time in four matches this season, defeating Saint Mary's in four sets in a non-conference match in Moraga on Tuesday. Set scores went 25-22, 22-25, 25-23 and 28-26. With the win the Mustangs improve to 3-1 on the year while Saint Mary's falls to 1-3.
Junior Jennifer Keddy and Sophomore Kristina Graven each tallied 19 kills in the match while no other Mustang had more then four kills.
Keddy's kills came on 43 swings with four errors while Graven and nearly perfect with only two errors on 45 swings. Keddy hit .349 with Graven hitting .378.
The tandem Sarah Cawrse and Shannon Garrett combined to dish out 38 assists with Cawrse responsible for 24.
Cal Poly as a team hit .214. with 66 digs and 19.5 total team blocks. Keddy claimed credit for eight (two solo), Megan McConnell six assisted with Graven claiming five (three solo).
Lauren Corp led Saint Mary's with 20 kills with Jordan Shaw adding 15 and Gabby Jolly 14 in the loss. The Gaels hit .159 for the match.
The Mustangs return to the court on Friday when they travel to Orem, UT for the La Quinta Inn and Suites Invitational hosted by Utah Valley University. Cal Poly will play Santa Clara on Friday at 4:30 pm.
