Cal Poly to Host Big West Conference Tournament as No. 2 Seed

FULLERTON, Calif. — A late goal lifted the Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team to a 1-0 home win over Cal Poly at Titan Stadium on Sunday.

With the win from the ESPN3-televised match, CSF (6-0-2 for 20 points; 8-7-4 overall) clinched the No. 1 seed in the Big West Conference Tournament, which Cal Poly will host in Alex G. Spanos Stadium next week.

For the semifinals, the regular-season champion Titans will take on fourth-seeded CSUN (4-3-1 for 13 points; 7-10-2) at 5 p.m. Thursday, before a 7:30 kickoff between the Mustangs (5-3-0 for 15; 10-9-0) and third-seeded Long Beach State (4-2-2 for 14; 8-6-5).

The championship game will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 9 on Fox Sports Prime Ticket.

Playing on their Senior Day, the Titans scored in the 83rd minute when Christin Burkenroad crossed in from the right side of the penalty area to Adriana Gjonovich for a straightahead tap-in.

Elise Krieghoff and Gianna Rosati forced Jennifer Stuart into saves in the 23rd and 26th minutes, and Krieghoff and Nicole Wheeler (at 55' and 56') later had shots blocked.

Alyssa Giannetti made saves in the 63rd and 71st minutes for the Mustangs.
