Third Annual Alumni and Booster Weekend Set for Jan. 18-19

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly wrestling program will celebrate over 60 years of Mustang tradition on the mat with its Third Annual Alumni and Booster Weekend on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 18-19.

Meathead Movers will once again be the full-event sponsor.

"We are grateful for our relationship with Meathead Movers. Their generosity has truly made a difference in our program," said third-year Mustang head coach Jon Sioredas. "With Meathead Movers underwriting the event, it is a pure profit event allowing for 100 percent of all monies collected to go directly to our program.

"Their sponsorship provides resources to continue our mission to create and foster Athletic and Academic Excellence on a national scale," Sioredas added.

The Alumni and Booster Weekend is expected to draw over 200 attendees to San Luis Obispo to take part in the weekend's festivities.

"Anytime you have a couple hundred passionate wrestling alumni, family, and friends get together, you are setting yourself up for a very entertaining and fulfilling weekend," Sioredas said.

On Friday, Jan. 18, the pre-match social will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Tailgate Tent adjacent to Mott Athletics Center and will include beverages and tri-tip tasting. The Homecoming dual against Big 12 foe Northern Colorado will begin at 7 p.m. in Mott Athletics Center.

Cal Poly's 1966-69 teams will be honored at intermission and an all-alumni photoshoot will follow.

"It is with much pride and privilege to honor our 1966-69 teams, as they were some of the toughest guys to ever put on a Cal Poly singlet," said Sioredas. "I have had the opportunity to visit with several of our guys from this era and have been thoroughly impressed with what they were able to accomplish both at our great institution and in their professional careers."

A no-host post-match social will take place at The Kinney SLO's all-new restaurant, Leroy's, located at 1800 Monterey Street. Leroy's will also host an optional Cornhole tournament and social Saturday at 2 p.m. and rideshare will be available to the Crab Feed.
