Cal Poly Slips to 14th-Place Tie in Stanford Intercollegiate; Binns in Top 15

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Cal Poly senior Jamie Binns carded a 73 Tuesday and remains in the top 15 at the Stanford Intercollegiate on the Poppy Hills Golf Course on the Monterey Peninsula.

Binns (pictured at right) has a two-over-par 144 total on the 6,069-yard par-71 layout and is tied for 12th place with Kathleen Scavo of Oregon with 18 holes to play Wednesday morning.

As a team, Cal Poly slipped from a tie for 11th place to a tie for 14th place with Georgia in the 15-team field. Coach Sofie Aagaard's Mustangs carded a four-person 306 total Tuesday and has a 605 aggregate for 36 holes.

Stanford leads the way with a 287 Tuesday for a one-under-par 567 total, seven strokes ahead of second-place UCLA. Northwestern is another two shots back at 576.

Individual leader after 36 holes remains Hannah Kim of Northwestern with a six-under-par 136 total after carding a 70 Tuesday. Kim is four shots ahead of five golfers who share second place.

Cal Poly's other scoring golfers are Desiree Gillaspy with a 78 for a 152 total and 53rd place, Sophie Bergland with a 78 for a 153 total and 57th place, Jamie Harada with a 77 for a 156 total and 66th place, and Meridith Hirsch with an 86 for a 169 total and 72nd place.
