Cal Poly Finishes Seventh in The Gold Rush

YORBA LINDA, Calif. – Taylor Yoshitake and Jamie Corr finished in the top 20 and the Cal Poly women's golf team claimed seventh place in the 11-team Gold Rush, which concluded a two-day run Tuesday at the Yorba Linda Country Club.

Yoshitake (pictured above) carded a final-round 77 and finished in a tie for 11th place with three other golfers, all with 12-over-par 228 totals, while Corr posted a 79 for a 231 total and a tie for 18th place.

Cal Poly, which recorded a 313 and 312 Monday, carded a final-round 312 Tuesday for a 937 total. Gonzaga was the team winner with an 893 total, followed by Long Beach State at 897 and UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton, tied for third with 913 aggregates.

Individual winner was Alice Kim of Gonzaga with a final-round 75 and a one-under-par 215 total, two strokes ahead of runners-up Rochelle Chan of Long Beach State and Ciera Min of Gonzaga. Chan posted a 70 Tuesday while Min h ad a  74.

Cal Poly's other scorers were Madison Hirsch and Morgan Thomas, both with final-round 78s for 239 totals and a tie for 34th place, and Alex Phillips with an 85 for a 256 total and 57th place.

Competing as an individual, Asia Adell shot an 87 for a 244 total and a tie for 48th place.

Cal Poly will host the 2014 Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship on Sunday through Tuesday at the San Luis Obispo Golf and Country Club.
