Cal Poly Fifth After First Round of Red Rocks Invitational

SEDONA, Ariz. – Madison Hirsch, Taylor Yoshitake and Morgan Thomas all carded 76s Saturday  to lead the Cal Poly women's golf team to fifth place among 18 schools competing in the Red Rocks Invitational hosted by Northern Arizona.

One more round is scheduled for Sunday at the Oak Creek Country Club.

Hirsch, Yoshitake (pictured at right) and Thomas are tied for 18th place while teammate Jamie Corr is tied for 32nd place after posting a 79. Asia Adell is tied for 48th place with an 81.

Competing as an individual, Alex Phillips also is tied for 48th place with an 81.

Individual leader after 18 holes is Jacquie LeMarr of Northern Arizona with a two-under-par 70. She leads Charlotte Jaengkit of Grand Canyon and Lisa Persson of Sacramento State by one stroke.

Cal Poly is just eight strokes behind team leader Xavier, which carded an 11-over-par four-person 299 total. Sacramento State is second at 301, followed by Grand Canyon at 304 and Northern Arizona at 305.
