AURORA, Oregon -- Taylor Yoshitake and Madison Hirsch carded final-round 74s to lift the Cal Poly women's golf team two spots into 10th place following the final round of play in the Rose City Collegiate on Tuesday at the Langdon Farms Golf Club near Portland.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs bettered their first-round score by nine strokes, finishing with a four-person 308 total on the 6,080-yard, par-72 course for a 49-over-par 625 total.
Oregon State claimed the team title with a 10-over-par 586 total after back-to-back rounds of 293, 14 strokes ahead of co-runners-up Gonzaga and UC Irvine. Cal State Fullerton leaped from 11th to fourth place with a final-round 294 and a 36-hole 609 total.
The Beavers were helped by Seshia Lei Telles when she made a hole-in-one on the par-3 third hole.
Tuesday's round was played in better weather conditions, though there were heavy showers at times. There was less wind than on Monday. The tournament was shortened to 36 holes as the Portland area has been hit with as much as five inches of rain since Friday.
Yoshitake (pictured at right) finished with a 152 total, tied for 17th place, while Hirsch compiled a 155 total, tied for 25th place.
Asia Adell followed her first-round 77 with an 81 and finished tied for 41st place with her 158 total while Morgan Thomas posted a 79 for a 160 total and a 52nd-place tie.
Montana Kosty carded a final-round 82, shaving five strokes off Monday's round, and finished tied for 77th place with a 169 total. Competing as an individual, Alex Phillips followed her 76 with an 81 Tuesday for a 157 total and a tie for 38th place.
Phillips was second in the tournament with her six birdies.
Top individual honors went to Oregon State's Anica Yoo, who posted rounds of 69 and 73 for a 142 total, one stroke ahead of runner-up Luciane Lee of UC Irvine (71-72). Three golfers -- Tisha Alyn Abrea (75-71) of Cal State Fullerton, Ciera Min (73-73) of Gonzaga and Chelsea Saelee (75-71) of Oregon State -- shared third place with 146 totals.
Cal Poly returns to action at the Wyoming Cowgirl Desert Classic on Oct. 11-13 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.
