Cal Poly Women's Golf Tied for Ninth Place in Folino Invitational

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – Led by Asia Adell, the Cal Poly women's golf team is tied for ninth place among 12 teams competing in the Folino Invitational on Sunday at the Industry Hills Country Club.

Adell (pictured at right) carded a 77 and is tied for 15th place, four strokes behind first-round leader Kristen Aiu of host Cal State Fullerton. Aiu shot a 73 and is one stroke ahead of five other golfers tied for second place.

Cal Poly's Drew Thomas shot a 79 and is tied for 28th place while Kirsten Locke carded an 81 and is tied for 34th place. Madison Hirsch recorded an 83 and is tied for 47th place and Taylor Yoshitake is tied for 54th place following her 84.

Competing as an individual, Mustang Montana Kosty shot an 81 and is tied for 34th place.

Gonzaga leads the team standings with a four-person 303 total, followed by Boise State at 307 and Wyoming and Portland State, both with 312 totals. Cal Poly carded a 320 and is tied with New Mexico State for ninth place.

The three-day tournament continues Monday and Tuesday.
