CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. – The Cal Poly women's golf team finished sixth in the 12-team Folino Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton, which completed a three-day run Tuesday at the Industry Hills Golf Club at Pacific Palm Resort.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs carded a four-person final-round 315 total on the 6,088-yard, par-71 Zaharias Course, finishing with a 95-over-par 947 total for 54 holes. Gonzaga claimed the team title with an 897 total, followed by Cal State Fullerton at 910 and Long Beach State at 918.
Cal Poly's top individual finishers were Asia Adell (pictured at right) and Taylor Yoshitake, tied for 12th place with 17-over-par 230 totals. Adell carded a final-round 73 while Yoshitake finished with a 76.
Morgan Thomas finished in a tie for 36th place with a final-round 83 and a 242 total while Kirsten Locke carded an 83 for a 246 total, tied for 47th place. Laura Howard carded an 83 as well for a 249 total, tied for 56th place.
Competing as an individual, Alex Phillips also had a final-round 83, finishing with a 244 total and tied for 41st place.
Montana's Tara Green took indivdual honors at 220 (74-68-78), topping Gonzaga's Alice Kim (76-70-75 = 221) and Cal State Fullerton's Taylor Fowler (75-74-72 = 221) by a single stroke.
Cal Poly returns to action March 19-20 at the Del Monte Invitational on the Monterey Peninsula.
