Cal Poly's Tjerrild Takes 7th in Invitational Pole Vault at Mt. SAC Relays

TORRANCE, Calif. — Cal Poly freshman pole-vaulter Brooke Tjerrild took seventh place overall in the Invitational Section of her event Saturday at the 60th annual Mt. SAC Relays, clearing 13 feet, 3.5 inches at Murdock Stadium.

Tjerrild needed only one try to successfully get over the bar at the height, before it was raised to 13' 9.25".

Twice a Big West Athlete of the Week selection for the Mustangs in 2018, her PR remains a conference-leading 13' 7.25".

She finished third among collegiate student-athletes at the meet on the El Camino College campus, trailing only Virginia Tech's Rachel Baxter and Air Force's Kathryn Tomczak, both at 13' 9.25".

Kristen Hixson of USATF High Performance won in the overall category with a jump of 15' 1", topping Chula Vista Elite's Kristen Brown (14' 7.25").

Cal Poly will now prep to visit UC Santa Barbara for the annual Blue-Green Rivalry Dual Meet on Saturday, April 28 at Pauley Track, before the postseason begins with the Big West Multi-Event Championships at CSUN, May 4-5.
