Cal Poly Swimming and Diving Set to Host UC Santa Barbara in Blue-Green Rivalry

SAN LUIS OBISPO – The Cal Poly swimming and diving team will be hosting UC Santa Barbara this Saturday in its second Blue-Green Rivalry this season.

The Mustangs are looking to even out this year's Blue-Green rivalry record. In Cal Poly's last meeting with the Gauchos, the Mustang men lost 161-129 and the women lost 171-123.

Freshman Hailey Houck has proven to be one of the team's leaders, as she took first place in both the 1000-yard free and the 200-yard fly in her last meet against Pacific.

Along with Houck, freshman Alex Tschopp placed first in two events against Pacific, including the 1000-yard free and the 500-yard free.

Junior Zachary Cootes still holds down the No. 1 spot in the conference for the men's 400-yard IM after his 3:55.24 finish at the A3 Performance Invitational in November.

Mustang diver, Lauren Pierce is No. 1 in the conference for the one-meter, as she boasts a score of 279.96. The junior is also ranked No. 2 in the conference for the three-meter, with a score of 282.30, making her an NCAA zone qualifier.

The Mustangs will take on the Gauchos this Saturday at 11 a.m. at Anderson Aquatic Center.
