SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – After narrowly falling to UC Santa Barbara last weekend by a combined score of 143-137, the Cal Poly women's swimming and diving team hosts Pepperdine at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson Aquatic Center.
Saturday's matchup with the Waves is Cal Poly's second dual meet of the 2015-16 season. The Mustangs defeated Pepperdine last season, 161-120, in San Luis Obispo.
Cal Poly collected victories in nine of the 16 events – two of which entered into the program's record book – against the Gauchos last Saturday, including sophomore Sage Speak, who earned two wins.
Speak (pictured) earned Female Athlete of the Week recognition by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation after her performances last weekend against UC Santa Barbara. Against UC Santa Barbara last weekend, Speak recorded times of 2:17.30 in the 200-yard breaststroke and 4:30.94 in the 400-yard IM Medley, both of which are the top times in each event this season for the Mustangs.

Pepperdine, meanwhile, enters Saturday's meet having hosted the Malibu Invitational from Oct. 16-17 where the Waves set numerous personal records at the non-team scoring event. The Waves took home a win during the season-opening PCSC Relays and Pentathlon in La Mirada from Oct. 9-10, finishing first in the Relays and second overall in the Pentathlon.
Cal Poly sophomore diver Lauren Pierce also etched her name in the program record books against the Gauchos last Saturday, compiling an aggregate score of 236.15 on the 1-meter board.
Cal Poly freshman Emily Imfeld also recorded two of the best season marks on the team last week against the Gauchos, racing to a 24.14 time in the 50-yard freestyle and 52.36 in the 100-yard freestyle.
