Cal Poly, UC Santa Barbara Split Dual Swimming and Diving Meets


SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly and UC Santa Barbara split dual swimming and diving meets Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Aquatic Center, with the Mustang women posting a 172-128 victory and the Gaucho men earning a 151.5-146.5 triumph.

The Mustang women are 4-1 in duals this season while the Cal Poly men are 2-3.

In women's events, Cal Poly's lone multiple-event winner was Rachel O'Brien in the 200 butterfly (2:01.11) and 100 butterfly (55.20).

Other Mustang winners were Allison de Peralta in the 100 backstroke (57.95), Angie Haven in the 100 breaststroke (1:05.69), Rachel Cleak in the 50 freestyle (23.98), Grace Greenwood in one-meter diving (253.87), Jillian Jones in the 100 freestyle (52.07) and Katrina Anderson in the 200 backstroke (2:04.83).

The Mustangs also won the 200 freestyle relay with Cleak, Jones, Kelsey Engel and Andrea Voigt combining for a time of 1:34.76.

On the men's side, Paolo Stanchi won both the 100 backstroke (51.93) and 200 backstroke (1:53.14) while Adrian Brynnel touched the wall first in the 200 freestyle (1:40.19) and 500 freestyle (4:34.18).

Other Mustang winners were Konrad Antoniuk in the 1,000 freestyle (9:28.19), Adrian Brynnel in the 200 freestyle (1:40.19), Mackey Hopen in the 100 breaststroke (57.15), Elliott Adams in three-meter diving (320.62) and Mickey Mackle in the 400 individual medley (4:00.75).

Mackle, Hopen, Luca Casimiro and Aaron McKinnon also teamed for a win in the 200 medley relay (1:33.73).

Cal Poly will prepare for conference finals -- the men March 3-6 in the Pac-12 Championships at Federal Way, Wash. and the women Feb. 20-23 in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at East Los Angeles City College.
