AUSTIN, Texas– Three Mustangs qualified to swim in events in the second day of the 2012 AT & T Winter National Championships. Cal Poly swimmers qualified along side some of the biggest names in the sport including Ryan Lochte, Ricky Berens and Missy Franklin.
Cal Poly senior Angie Haven swam in her second event of the championships. Haven competed in the 100 breaststroke and finished in 33rd place at 1:02.98.
On the men's side, sophomore Mackey Hopen finished first in his heat of the 100 breaststroke at 54.85 and advanced to the finals.
Cal Poly freshman Paolo Stanchi competed in the 400 individual medley, finishing at 3:55.51 and qualifying for the finals. Stanchi finished in 23rd in the finals.
Tomorrow, Mustangs compete in three events. Ian Sinclair will swim in the 1650 yard freestyle. Paolo Stanchi will compete in the 200 backstroke. And Angie Haven hits the pool one last time as she swims in the 200 yard breaststroke.
