Men’s Tennis Seeking Third Straight Win Saturday Against No. 50 Utah

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly men's tennis program will look to win its third straight match Saturday when it hosts No. 5 Utah in the fourth of its five-match home stand.

Match time is set for noon. Admission is free to everyone and the first 100 fans will receive a RideHigh Popsocket.

The Mustangs (5-5) are coming off back-to-back wins over UNLV and Denver last week, both in strong fashion. They first beat the Rebels 4-1 before taking down the Pioneers 6-1.

Cal Poly has been led in singles so far this season by freshman Gary Vardanyan, who is 7-0, junior Antoine Noel, who is 6-2, senior Josh Ortlip, who is 6-3, and sophomore Alex Stater, who is 6-3.

The Mustangs are 3-1 at home this year, with their only loss being in a close contest against No. 22 Arizona 4-3.

The No. 50 Utes hold a 13-5 record this season. They are coming off a 7-0 win over UC Irvine Wednesday, their first road victory of the season.

Utah is led by senior Dan Little, who is 9-4 and ranked No. 64 in the country in singles.

Following Saturday, Cal Poly will wrap up its current home stand next Friday, March 22 against Nevada at 10 a.m.
