SAN LUIS OBISPO – Highlighted by the return of six starters and 17 letterwinners from last season, a six-member senior class and the addition of 12 newcomers – including three graduate transfers – the Cal Poly men's soccer program will begin preparations for the 2019 season on Wednesday morning.
The Mustangs, who also welcome back two of their top three goalscorers from a year ago as well as two of three goalkeepers who saw action in 2018, will enjoy 16 days of preparation prior to the program's Friday, Aug. 30 regular season opener at Utah Valley. In between, Cal Poly visits UNLV for a Tuesday, Aug. 20 exhibition before hosting Division II Cal State Monterey Bay in a second preseason tuneup on Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. inside Alex G. Spanos Stadium.
Cal Poly will also hold its annual Green versus Gold intrasquad exhibition at Spanos Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.
Following the Aug. 30 regular season opener at Utah Valley, Cal Poly completes its initial road trip at San Diego on Monday, Sept. 2. The Mustangs then begin a five-game home stand – their lengthiest stretch inside Spanos Stadium in five years – on Tuesday, Sept. 10 versus Division II Fresno Pacific.
