SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Kickoff times for Cal Poly's five home football games have been announced.
The season opener against San Diego on August 31 will kick off at 2 p.m. while the remaining four home contests, all Big Sky Conference games, are scheduled to begin at 5 o'clock.
Cal Poly's Big Sky games at home include Montana State on Oct. 5, North Dakota on Oct. 19, Sacramento State on Oct. 26 and Eastern Washington on Nov. 16.
In recent years Cal Poly played its home games at 4 and 6 p.m. The switch to 5 o'clock represents an attempt to accommodate families who thought 4 p.m. was too early to partake in any pregame activities and others who felt 6 o'clock was too late.
The game against San Diego will be Youth Day while the Montana State contest is the Hall of Fame Game. Mustang Family Weekend will be held with the Sacramento State contest and the Eastern Washington game is Alumni Weekend, a Homecoming Celebration, as well as Hats off to Heroes.
Cal Poly was 5-6 a year ago and finished tied for sixth place in the 13-team Big Sky standings at 4-4. The Mustangs are entering their 11th season under head coach Tim Walsh and will begin preparations for the 2019 campaign with the opening of Fall Camp on August 2.
