Cal Poly Beach Volleyball Ranked No. 7 in DiG Magazine Preseason Poll

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Coming off its best season in program history, the Cal Poly beach volleyball program has been ranked No. 7 in the nation by DiG Magazine in its preseason top 20 poll.

The Mustangs, who finished last year ranked No. 8 in the country, return seven players who earned All-Conference honors last season as they finished with a 25-12 record, won their first Big West title, and made their first NCAA Tournament appearance.

In addition, Cal Poly will also get Torrey and Adlee Van Winden back to this year's team after both missed last season due to injury. They have also added three freshman and two transfers in Mariah Whalen from Wisconsin and Hannah Rogers from TCU.

UCLA, the defending national champions, are ranked No. 1 by DiG Magazine. The Bruins are followed by LSU, Florida State, USC, fellow Big West member Hawai'i, and Pepperdine as the six teams ranked ahead of the Mustangs. Cal Poly will play five of those six teams during the regular season.

The Mustangs open the 2020 season on Feb. 22 in Tallahassee, Fla.
