One of the athletic department's most valuable individuals of the past and present, Donald Morris was drafted to Cal Poly's track team after setting records as a college freshman in hurdles.
After graduation from Cal Poly in 1952, Don began a career with the United States Navy where he spent four years of active duty and served for forty years in the Navy Reserve. He returned to Cal Poly where he earned his Masters Degree. He went to UCLA later to receive his doctorate in higher education. Don has held many positions at Cal Poly, including Personnel Director, Housing Director, Dean of Extended Education and Professor.
Don currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Cal Poly Alumni Association and on the California State Senior Olympics Board of Directors. He also participates in the State Senior Olympics in 3 on 3 Basketball. Don served 40 years in the Navy Reserves. He lives in Pismo Beach with wife Jean. They have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. In 2000 Don was honored by Cal Poly's Alumni Association as an Honored Alumni.
