Al Moriarty played football from 1953-56 for Cal Poly, including the undefeated 1953 football team primarily as a tackle and end for Roy Hughes. That team outscored the opposition 395-65 en route to a 9-0 record. Moriarty's four teams at Cal Poly won 29 of 39 games.

A versatile player, Moriarty also was a guard, quarterback and kicker for the Mustangs.

Al also played basketball under Ed Jorgensen as a freshman.

Al started his own financial services business as a junior and graduated from Cal Poly in 1957. He was listed in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities.

While continuing to work in the financial services business, Al coached football and basketball at Mission College Prep and also volunteered to be the school's athletics coordinator for 10 years.

Al, a father of five children, served on various San Luis Obispo city committees and worked with the youth of the community in baseball, basketball and football.
