Louise Torgerson joined Cal Poly's Mustang Success Center as an Academic Advisor in June 2014. She is the team advisor for Football, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Soccer, Wrestling, Softball, and Men’s and Women’s Golf. Torgerson also oversees the student-athlete tutor program and teaches a First Year Success Seminar.
Prior to Cal Poly, Torgerson served as an Academic Coordinator and Tutor and Mentor Coordinator at the University of Missouri from 2012-2014 working with their Men's and Women's Swim/Dive, Baseball, and Volleyball teams. The previous three years she spent at Gonzaga University as their Life Skills Coordinator and an Academic Advisor for Men's and Women's Rowing. At GU, she established the Life Skills Program from its infancy. Prior to her stint at Gonzaga, Torgerson was an Athletic Academic Advisor at the University of Montana and a Graduate Intern in Student-Athlete Development for Washington State University.
Torgerson received a Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management and a Master's of Education in Higher Education Administration from Washington State. She is a graduate of Women Leaders in College Sports/ Administrative Advancement Institute, the Student-Athlete Knowledge Community NCAA Division I Representative for the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and member of the National Academic Advisors Association (N4A) and the National Academic Advisors Association (NACADA). Torgerson also facilitates DiSC workshops on behalf of the NCAA and has been a mentor with N4A and Women Leaders in College Sports.
