Kyle Ross joined the Mustang Success Center in the Summer 2014 as an Athletic Academic Advisor. Ross works with Football, Baseball, Men’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Tennis and Volleyball. His responsibilities include; managing corporate sponsorships for Career Development programming and eaching a First Year Success Seminar.
Prior to joining Cal Poly, Ross worked at the University of Southern California for 7 years where he most recently served as Assistant Director for Athletic Academic Advising. While at USC, Ross was part of the management team and helped with oversight of day-to-day operations for the Student Athlete Academic Services office. He was an academic advisor for Football and Baseball while serving on the Personal Development committee which oversaw all Life Skills programming for student-athletes. Ross managed the Community Service Program for over 5 years and helped USC student-athletes/staff give back more than 10,000 hours of service.
Before USC, Ross spent 2 years as an Assistant Academic Counselor at the University of Nebraska, where he helped to advise and provide support for all sports but specifically worked with Baseball, Football, Wrestling, and Women’s Gymnastics. Kyle also assisted with various Life Skills programs and managed the grade collection program for over 500 student-athletes.
Ross has more than 10 years of academic advising experience working with student-athletes at the NCAA Division 1 level. His passion is to support and help students succeed in academics and for life after sports. Ross is a member of the National Academic Advisors Association (N4A) and the National Academic Advisors Association (NACADA). He and his wife Danielle live in Grover Beach with their son Ely and 2 dogs.
