SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After helping lead the Cal Poly volleyball team to a pair of Big West wins last weekend to keep the Mustangs atop the conference standings, junior outside hitter Maia Dvoracek has been named the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week and the Big West Player of the Week.
For Dvoracek, this is the third time in the last four weeks she has been named Big West Player of the Week and the second time this year taking home Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
In a pair of wins over UC Riverside and UC Davis, she averaged 3.88 kills, 1.50 digs and 0.88 blocks per set to help Cal Poly extend its winning streak to seven matches and move to 5-0 in the Big West.
In a sweep over the Highlanders on Friday, Dvoracek finished with 10 kills, seven digs, three blocks and an ace.
In a five-set win over the Aggies the next night, she notched a match-high 21 kills to go along with five digs, four blocks and an ace.
In conference matches so far this season, Dvoracek is averaging 4.76 kills per set. She also ranks second in all of Division I with 44 service aces.
Cal Poly will be home this week to take on No. 19 Hawai’i at 7 p.m. on Friday inside Mott Athletics Center.
