SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- After conceding just one goal during the Cal Poly men’s soccer program’s pair of home victories versus Cal State Fullerton (Oct. 16) and CSUN (Oct. 20), sophomore goalkeeper Carlos Arce-Hurtado was named Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.

During Cal Poly’s 3-1 home victory against Cal State Fullerton, Arce-Hurtado recorded four saves – all during the first half – to help propel the Mustangs to their first Big West win of the season.

Four nights later during a 2-0 victory against CSUN, Arce-Hurtado matched a season high with six saves to post his third shutout of the season.

During the two games, Arce-Hurtado posted a .909 save percentage and 0.50 goals against average.

With the pair of victories, Cal Poly (6-6-1, 2-2-0) rose to fourth place in the Big West Conference standings on six points. After dropping their opening two Big West matches, the Mustangs now trail Big West leader UC Irvine (6-4-5, 3-0-1) by just four points with three matches remaining.

Cal Poly opens its final road trip of the regular season at Sacramento State on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 3 p.m. The trip concludes at UC Irvine on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m.
