SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After picking up his most impressive wins of the season last week against No. 22 Arizona, Cal Poly men’s tennis senior Josh Ortlip has been named Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Ortlip won both his singles match at the No. 1 position and his doubles match at the No. 1 spot as the Mustangs were narrowly edged by the No. 22 Wildcats 4-3.
Ortlip teamed with fellow senior Dominic Bechard for the first time this season at No. 1 doubles, taking down Arizona’s Jonas Ziverts and Carlos Hassey 6-4.
He then beat Ziverts at No. 1 singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, to improve his singles record to 4-3 this season.
Cal Poly will have two home matches this week. The Mustangs will first host UNLV on Friday at noon followed by Denver on Sunday at noon from Mustang Tennis Complex. Admission to all home matches is free to everyone.
