SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After a 6-0 weekend individually while playing with two different partners to help the seventh-ranked Cal Poly beach volleyball team go 5-1 in Arizona last weekend, sophomore Tiadora Miric has been named this week’s Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
Miric, who played all six matches from the No. 1 pairing, went 3-0 with senior Crissy Jones on Friday and 3-0 with junior Emily Sonny on Saturday. Her wins over the weekend included No. 14 Arizona, No. 15 Grand Canyon, UAB, and Arizona State.
Individually, Miric has the most wins on the team so far this season at 19-4. She is 15-4 with Jones and 4-0 with Sonny.
The No. 7 Mustangs (18-7), who have won 15 of their last 17 matches, beat No. 15 Grand Canyon, UAB, and Arizona State as well as Mt. Sac College and Long Beach City College (which do not count toward any overall or pair records) and lost to No. 14 Arizona.
Cal Poly heads to Malibu this weekend for two matches on Saturday. The first will be against No. 5 Pepperdine for the second time this season at 10 a.m. The Mustangs fell to the Waves earlier this season 3-2. They will then take on No. 12 Cal at 11 a.m.
