SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Junior center fielder Bradlee Beesley, who hit .412 in four baseball games last week, has been selected as the Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
The San Leandro High School graduate produced a pair of three-hit games against UC Riverside, driving in three runs in the series, and also had a run-scoring double at Stanford. He went 7-for-17 last week with a double and four RBIs.
Beesley has four three-hit games, a trio of four-hit contests and 16 multiple-hit games this season. He currently is hitting .295 for the season with 15 doubles, one triple, one home run and 35 RBIs.
Beesley has started 160 games in his three-year Mustang career and owns a career .292 batting average with 40 doubles (two shy of the all-time top 10 at Cal Poly), four triples and four home runs. He has knocked in 82 runs.
Beesley scored four times last week and did not strike out in 20 plate appearances while stealing three bases in three attempts. He leads the team with eight steals in 12 attempts and his 28 strikeouts are the fewest among the regulars on the squad.
A business administration major, Beesley hit .305 as a freshman and .277 as a sophomore. He was a second-team All-Big West Conference selection as a freshman in 2017. He hit .368 for Yarmouth-Dennis in the Cape Cod League last summer.
Cal Poly wraps up the regular season Thursday through Saturday at UC Santa Barbara, needing three victories to claim a share of the Big West title and the automatic qualifying berth in the NCAA regionals.
