Zack Allen, Freestyle, Senior, Danville, Calif. | Cate High School
SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After breaking three individual school records and one team relay school record during last week’s Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships, Cal Poly men’s senior swimmer Zack Allen has been named the Coca-Cola Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
This is the third time this year that Allen has earned the Coca-Cola Student-Athlete of the Week honor, tied for the most by a Mustang student-athlete.
Allen broke the program record in the 50 freestyle (finishing second in the event), 100 butterfly (second in the event), and 100 free (second).
He was also one of a quartet of Mustangs who were on the 400 free relay team. He, along with fellow senior Dominic Dalpiaz, junior Paul Rogers and junior Nic Clark, broke the school record after finishing with a time of 2:54.79, finishing in fourth place. That broke the record those same four set at last year's MPSF Championships.
Currently, Allen’s record-breaking time in the 100 fly of 46.38 ranks as the 32nd-fastest time in the NCAA this year.
As a team, the Cal Poly men finished the MPSF Championships in fourth place overall with 446.50 points while the women placed seventh with 264.50 points.
